Kansas Crime Victims Compensation Board awards financial support

On Thursday, the Kansas Crime Victims Compensation Board gave more than $310,000 to 248 victims of violent crimes.

In 1978, the compensation program was started to assist the victims to pay for any unexpected expenses like lost wages, counseling and funeral costs.

The awards were given to 124 new cases and additional expenses were paid to 124 previously submitted cases.
