Mission Man Accused Of Setting Fire At Overland Park Home


Wednesday night, a blaze was set in a house at 8600 block of West 75th Street by a Mission man who is facing charges.

The fire was set inside the garage of the Overland Park house. Luckily, Overland Park Fire Department crew happened to be in the area. They saw the fire about 8:20 p.m. and quickly extinguished it.

According to Overland Park police, 50-year-old Richard F. Blanner was charged in Johnson County District Court Thursday. He faced a felony count of aggravated arson. His bond was set at $250,000 and he remained in custody Friday.

Police also told that Blanner set the fire after he had an argument with the person who lived in the house. Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.
